Sorry I’ve been MIA for a few weeks. Time to get back at it, with a poorly titled post about a “mailbag.” What does one use to represent the collection of email, comments, Facebook posts, etc., here in the 21st century? I don’t know, but I’m sticking with mailbag, for now.

So, here’s a question from reader Laurie: “Would you know when the new Goodwill is going to open?? Or what else might be coming to the area?? Thanks!!” Of course, I’m a bit late getting to this one, as anyone who’s driven by the property in the past week or so will have seen the big sign on the side of the Goodwill building. It’ll be opening on June 13. Sorry, Laurie, for taking so long to get to your query.

As for the second part of her question, it looks like Dollar Tree is about ready to open. I haven’t seen a definitive opening date, but the store looks, pretty much, ready to go.

Over on the Facebook, Daniel has suggested a few new (well, two new and one that would be returning) businesses that might be on the way. He says he’s heard that Steak ‘n Shake and Walgreen’s are planning locations in Weaverville and that BI-LO may be returning to town. I’ve not been able to confirm either of these, but there’s an empty former Food Lion store that sure would be an easy fit for BI-LO.
